Early in my wood bending I built a few smaller vases, one of quilted maple and one in walnut.

Later I decided to build a larger vase, one 32″ in height, which turned out to be trickier. It’s a challenge to maintain the shape and dimensions accurately enough so that the two halves join together.  I often find myself drawn to using curly maple because the figured wood creates such beautiful patterns as it wraps around the vase.
