This Rolling Ball Droid was inspired by BB8 of Star Wars fame.

It started out to be a globe, but after building the body, I had the idea to turn it into a droid.  The head, like the body, is made from bent wood (curly maple).  The eyes are ebony.  And the design on the body is made using pyrography (wood burning).  It was all done with hand stippling.  Very time-consuming but fun.  It has a lot of personality!
